Community Hospital Unveils Advanced Video Technology for Urology Patients

New Olympus Urology Video System provides superior visualization for urology patient diagnosis and treatment

NEW Port Richey, Florida – (January 8, 2010) Community Hospital, the future Medical Center of Trinity, surgical services now offers the Olympus Urology Video System advanced technology for the diagnosis and treatment of urology patients.

The Olympus Urology Video System features 1080I High Definition video using Narrow Band Imaging (NBI). This exclusive feature is a central component of the new video system and is activated at the touch of a button. The NBI changes the wavelength of the light projected through the endoscope, enabling the detection of abnormal tissue and makes it possible to see tissue details not previously detectable by surgical video. Video flexible ureteroscopes and cystoscopes in this new system have the sharpest image quality available and also utilize NBI for enhanced diagnosis throughout the urinary tract.

“With the installation of the new Olympus Urology Video System, Community Hospital’s cystoscopy room will be the most technologically advanced in Pasco County,” said Lisa Richardson, MHA, RN, CNOR, Director of Surgical Services. “We are very excited to provide this new technology to our urology patients.”

Another component of the new system is the Olympus bipolar resection system.  The new high-powered bipolar system makes prostate vaporization in saline possible. The button electrode used for prostate vaporization provides a safe, predictable outcome for patients.
